Ester Drang – Infinite Keys – Review

Ester Drang

Infinite Keys (Jade Tree)
by Tim Den

Sure, you could call Ester Drang “celestial.” But as another reviewer put it, the truth is probably closer to “comfortably numbing” and “pleasant presence but leaving no imprint.” Which, in the end, doesn’t make Infinite Keys that much different from elevator music, cuz you walk away wondering “did I actually listen to songs just now? Or was it just background gibberish?” If you’re into this kind of stuff, there are plenty of better bands (Mogwai, Sigur Ros, etc.). Just cuz all the aesthetics are properly placed in the “hipster zone,” doesn’t mean the songs are good (I’m talking to you too, Denali).
