I hate rap, cuz I liked P.E. and N.W.A., and nothing ever struck me like that again. I especially hate white guys who rap, and this guy’s from Keene, New Hampshire, which is right on the Vermont border, way out there, a place I’ve been to twice and got freaked both times cuz it was all Deliverance and shit. But damn if this country boy doesn’t have skillz, as they say, and the scratching and spinning and samples are impressive too. Haunting, and worldly. Like scratchy old blues records, music box tinkle, a lonely trumpet soliloquy, that kinda stuff. I actually LIKE “Early Morning Silence” and “Holding the Horizon Hostage,” and white guy rapping usually turns me off like lima beans on a hot fudge sunday.
