Ignite And Rebuild (Indianola)
by Scott Hefflon

Where melodic hardcore and screamo meet. Somewhere in Connecticut, it seems. A line in the bio sez it all: “A full throttle blast that harkens back to the glory days of Hopefall, Shai Hulud, and Strongarm…” So if you’re nostalgic for kind-of ok bands from what, a couple years ago?, and want some Atari’s breakdowns and shakily searching melodies thrown into yer screamo hardcore, well, here ya are.

Best thing about this CD? The business card that came with it for John and Matt at Indianola Records which boasts “An Empire in the Making.” While this band ain’t my fave, the label sprinkles fairy dust on pumped up brutes and makes ’em dance like skippies in leotards. They make your 15 year old cousin wet while she posts bad tragic/emo poetry on her myspace page. They unite the masses by making the tough guys a little queer, and give the emo girls a little naughty goose toward the Dark Side (real men don’t mope: They’ll lug your furniture up two flights of stairs and make your toes curl later).
