The bio states Crime in Choir is sometimes compared to Faust, Magma, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Goblin, Soft Machine, and even Grand Wazoo era-Frank Zappa. I’d like to find whoever said that and slap them silly. Crime in Choir is an instrumental progressive rock band from San Francisco, CA founded in 2000. Current members include Kenny Hopper (ex-At the Drive-In), Jesse Reiner (also in Citay), Jarrett Wrenn (ex-At the Drive-In), Tim Soete (also in The Fucking Champs), Matt Waters (also in The Mass) and studio contributions by Seth Lorinczi (of Circus Lupus, the Quails, and the Golden Bears). That’s straight from the site, cuz them’s facts, and simple enough to swipe. I have a real problem with new prog wankery that can’t hold a candle to classic prog wankery, and the trendy indie dipshits who can’t tell the difference. Crime in Choir is less annoying and undeservedly pretentious than other bands I can think of, but if I wanted long, nearly-pointless jams, I’d pull out some ’70s vinyl I got at yard sales. That’s the way to acquire this stuff, and everyone should have an assortment of moldy records they pull out when in the mood.
