Oh No…Yes! Yes! (Crustacean)
by Scott Hefflon

I find this annoying, but that could be the tones, not the tunes. Sure, I like the dark angularity of Dead Kennedys’ guitarwork, and I have some Wendy O. Williams and Siouxie and the Banshees on vinyl, but this isn’t consistently trebly garage new wave punk like Dirtnap bands, cuz there’s a piano bar nervous breakdown (great idea, but quite jarring to listen to), and some spacey shit, and various other kitchen sink ideas wandering around. Imagine if Debby Harry was from Minneapolis and didn’t go through phases, she was scatterbrained from day one. There are moments here that make me wish three or four songs were centered around massaging a certain style, a certain tone and vibe, but there’s no continuity here, and each twinkling moment is snuffed out by the frantic need to get to the next style.
