Cinema Cinema – Review

by Dan Bernal

This collection of jangly holler-pop feels at times like a sort of a Weight-Watchers version of Smashing Pumpkins: Intensity minus the some of the depth. The predominantly bass-driven tunes are garnished with airy guitars and a hint of Jeff Buckley vocal influence, particularly in the emotively strained vibrato. Solid drumming holds the framework of Cinema Cinema together in what feels like a concrete basement beneath a Styrofoam house.
