V (Hellcat)

I haven’t checked in with this series since III left me a little cold. I had some pretty high expectations, though. The first two volumes had everything you could want in all the right proportions, and you didn’t have to break anything larger than a five to buy it. The formula is the same as it’s always been, but the quality of the ingredients is a little spotty. You get a fairly good round-up of Hellcat bands ranging from psychobilly to ska and all manner of punk in between. No real surprises, and no real highlights, just like the last time I checked in. Maybe comps like this are a younger man’s game. If I was 16 in nowhereshitsville with only a few bucks in my pocket, this might just be the thing to keep me from burning down my school and killing mom and dad. Giving ‘Em The Boot: Rancid, Dropkick Murphys, Time Again, Tiger Army, The Unseen, The Slackers, Left Alone, The Aggrolites, HorrorPops, Roger Miret And The Disasters, The Heart Attacks, Mercy Killers, Westbound Train, Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards, Orange, Nekromantix, Static Thought, Los Difuntos.
