I haven’t checked in with this series since III left me a little cold. I had some pretty high expectations, though. The first two volumes had everything you could want in all the right proportions, and you didn’t have to break anything larger than a five to buy it. The formula is the same as it’s always been, but the quality of the ingredients is a little spotty. You get a fairly good round-up of Hellcat bands ranging from psychobilly to ska and all manner of punk in between. No real surprises, and no real highlights, just like the last time I checked in. Maybe comps like this are a younger man’s game. If I was 16 in nowhereshitsville with only a few bucks in my pocket, this might just be the thing to keep me from burning down my school and killing mom and dad.
