Stupid name for a rock band, but so is Lollipop for a rock mag. Singer sometimes sounds like Danzig in rock mode, like a few of those mid-’90s rock bands Sub Pop signed during that very brief time when we thought they were gonna be a real rock label again. Glucifer was one. They had stuff on Man’s Ruin, the rock not the stoner fuzz side of things. This self-titled sucker is a ode to drinking and living in New York, or so the bio sez. Some songs have a less tortured Murder City Devil howl, a little more NYC hipster garage rock. Might be trendy garage, kinda hard to tell from the skimpy bio and there’s no artwork with this promo. Get ’em on the mp3 CD, cuz they’re either bad-ass rock or hipster Mooney Suzuki fakes. Let the people decide.
