The Linkin Park of electro/industrial, Mindless Self Indulgence (MSI) is a perfectly enjoyable band for the braindead. But let’s face it, after all the political/economic bullshit going on these days, sometimes we all drink ourselves braindead. MSI is a pleasant band for those who find Marilyn Manson too hard or intelligent (teen anthems or not, he’s a clever wordsmith with pristine production). They’re “quirky,” which is perhaps why The End signed them to their quirky label, but with labelmates J2, Virgin Black, Estradasphere, Tub Ring, and others to deal with, MSI’s non-conformity vs. Stolen Babies’ WTF?!? make MSI sound like, ya know, the latest Trustkill trendsetter who’ll be forgotten in three years or less.
