Supergrass
Diamond Hoo Ha (Astralwerks)
by Scott Hefflon
Twelve years in, six studio albums beneath their belt, barely in their 30s, Supergrass still have it, and they make doing it sound easy. Light and breezy without being trite, catchy without being obviously formulaic, with mature songwriting skills tempered by the youthful joy of writing and recording great songs. They were teenagers when they were swept up in the Britpop boom of the mid-’90s, and they helped influence bands such as Coldplay and Muse, and the influence has rubbed back upon them. This is a great, easy to listen to, diverse album.
