Beck just dropped a new tune, harkening back to his Sea Change era. I tried, and I really did — had the thing in my car even — and that crowd favorite never went past okay for me. Same here. “Ride Lonesome” is not awful. Mellow, acoustic, introspective, countryish. And he’s got the cash to make a beautiful video. I haven’t listened to his entire oeuvre, but from what I’ve heard, he’s never put out something terrible. Some of you out there will dig it. A few of you might even think it’s where it’s at, whether you got two turntables and a microphone or not.
