Atom And His Package – Hamburgers – Review

Atom And His Package

Hamburgers (File 13)
by Scott Hefflon

Atom & His Package always reminds me of this genius, ahead-of-its-time CD I got from Vermont comic artist James Kochalka Superstar (do a Google search or listen to songs on mp3.com, that’s what they’re there for). Silly, keyboard-infatuated stuff, giddy, and tuneful as all hell. A&HP writes songs called “I’m Downright Amazed at What I Can Destroy with Just a Hammer” and a couple fave J. K. Superstar choruses were “It’s my dink, it’s my dink, it’s a magic finger, pointing at all the pretty girls” and “She’s a Hot Dog Hot Rod Rider.” In both cases, you can see the potential for silly flash videos, the kinda stuff www.threebrain.com would do and we all email around to our friends because it’s nice to find other silly people out there in the world still making dumb stuff that makes no sense. Hamburgers is only five songs, 14 minutes long, but you gotta take what you can get.
