One interesting thing about the ever-changing world of electronica is that the need for hooks and schtick is omnipresent. Case in point is Banablia, who’s decided to take a page from the Byrne/Eno My Life in the Bush of Ghosts album and use only “found” vocal samples from around Rotterdam and Yemen. He then tweaks and inserts them into a blend of trip-hop and ambient music. Very pretty, and very human. One of the best stoner albums to come along in years.
