A live acoustic album with all the hits, including the song with Evanescence. You can almost see college girls mouthing the words with their eyes closed.
Great drumming and production, “The Right Thing” rocks like a Gap commercial, but it doesn’t last. I forget electronic-obsessed pop rock like this still exists.
Duets with Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Neil Young, Keith Richards, Merle Haggard, Kid Rock, Rod Stewart, Willie Nelson, Eric Clapton, Little Richard, etc.
The whole package, from blues to swagger to shuffle, all expertly played, all grinning like fools, clean and smart vocals, tasteful harmonies, slick production.
Refreshing to hear the roller-rink organ on numbers that could otherwise pass for Black Flag. Check the Bob Seger humping Meatloaf sounds of “Horror Night.”
Fans of standard-yet-smart guitar pop a la Jason Falkner, Jon Brion, The Kinks, etc. will be glad to know that guys such as Spike Priggen are still out there.
Like Daniel Johns (Silverchair) singing over Sonic Youth. Eric Kramer’s pipes exhibit more charisma when showcasing his warm tone, not shrieking outbursts.
The handsome old poofter is still putting out good records, and this one is produced by Tony Visconti. If you don’t know who he is, you don’t love rock’n’roll.
