Jughead’s Revenge – 13 Kiddie Favorites – Review

Jughead’s Revenge

13 Kiddie Favorites (BYO)
by Chaz Thorndike

Taking it back to the early L.A. days of punk rock, Jughead’s Revenge still have the fuck-the-world punk rock attitude. Yeah, I like the punkpop thing (basically ’95 pop, for all intents and purposes), but nothing beats fist-flyin’ slam pits, and a chainsaw snarl. 13 Kiddie Favorites may not sell the number of units that the stadium punk bands do, but the songs sink in. They strike something a lot deeper than pretty songs on the radio. “Thursday” has the magic formula for a smash hit, but “Just Like You” maintains a level of integrity that you just can’t get from specially marked packages of Wheaties with Green Day on the cover.
