Ruby Falls – What She Does – Review

Ruby Falls

What She Does (Personal Favorite)
by Nik Rainey

No, Ruby Falls is not the headline on the front page of the Trip-Hop Tribune, it’s a group of four tense malchiks spitting out white-knuckled empower-pop. Rough-hewn guitar sounds grind against each other while defiant vocals strike a blow (below the belt, natch) against the indie-rock patriarchy. A tough, artsy clang, kinda like if the Olympia grrrl mafia traded their Runaways records for the collected works of Ut and Live Skull. Their song structures could use a little work (too often, they meander off into oblivion instead of ending properly), but once they do, they will rule and all us guys will be holding Germaine Greer hardcovers to our crotches for protection. As if I don’t already.
