An ambitious effort, yet still another one of those damned tribute compilations. If it makes anyone feel better, I do feel a twinge of guilt at criticizing something that benefits Farm Aid (it’s a tribute to Willie Nelson, what did you expect?). New artists like Presidents of the United States of America, Supersuckers, Jello Biafra, L7, Reverend Horton Heat, etc. do renditions of their favorite Nelson tunes. It also features classic folks like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and X. (That last band was placed next to the two country singers in an effort to deliberately piss off old diehards who probably won’t read this anyway, in the wonderful punk rawk tradition, Oi!). So buy it, cheesedick! (I hope that sounds convincing.)
