Lunar Plexus – Sweeter – Review

Lunar Plexus

Sweeter

It’s good to see that Boston isn’t totally made up of Pixie heads and punkers. This five-song EP is a good start for Lunar Plexus. They’ve got a bit of a heavy funk groove (edging into Moloko space), female vocals that neither shriek nor squeak, and interesting guitar. Maybe a little too interesting at times; all the songs were written by the six-string slinger, so there are areas where the noodling takes him into the “do you want to see my diploma from music school?” territory. Luckily, the singer is there to puncture the slowly swelling egos by adding some crazed samples into the mix, most notably on “Infected.” Good effort. Keep an eye on them.
