A slick little comp featuring tracks by Visit Venus, The Egg, Lisa Carbon & Friends (a.k.a. Atom Heart), DJ Vadim, Cujo, and more. The Egg track (“Big Duck (Maff’s Mix)”) stands out, mostly because it’s all live instruments (but doesn’t sound like it), as does The Duke of Harringay (a.k.a. Squarepusher) track, “Sarcacid Part 1,” with its use of a jazz/jungle beat under some ’70s electric piano, low end surprisingly missing. However, on the whole, Bento Box doesn’t provide anything of much interest, just bleeping and blooping away, the new wave in elevator music.
