Civil Defiance – Circus Of Fear – Review

Civil Defiance

Circus Of Fear (Nuclear Blast)
by Martin Popoff

A thought-provoking amalgam of many divergent styles revolved around a harsh metal core. Think Mind Over Four, Thought Industry, Jane’s Addiction, or Candiria, metal without limits, Civil Defiance adding a double shot of Brutally Truthful post-grind irony to the proceedings, then all of a sudden hitting you with a few Fripp loops and Meat Puppets. It’s a meshing that hits the head more than the groin, but somebody’s gotta get out there and make the difficult choices, and somehow through all the mesmerizing maze-walks on here, Civil Defiance convince you that they are important in that whole hallowed U2/Rage Against The Machine space.
