It’s only a four-song EP but Here Comes… introduces a new band destined for greatness. Fanmail is Scott Silette, ex-frontman for Plankeye, who’s tapped into catchy Beach Boys-y harmonies, infectious pop melodies (I hear “Footloose” in “True Brand New”), and humor (“(I Wanna Be A) Rock & Roll Star”) not to mention punkifying The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” so nicely, it’s worth the price of the CD alone. With a distinctive lead vocal and clever, almost silly, use of harmonies, Fanmail is a band to watch.
