The Frustators – Bored in the USA – Review

The Frustators

Bored in the USA (Adeline)
by Scott Hefflon

An eight-song, 22-minute EP of well-produced punk rock (“I Slept with Terry” sounds like “Johnny B. Goode” performed by the Sex Pistols) that swipes from ’50s-style balladry and all the good stuff that got punk to the state it is. Punk rock as in, they like solos, can play their damn instruments, have a dark, booze-swilling side as well as a tough-yet-tender side, and can write a melody you’ll cheer along with. Combining members of Violent Anal Death, Waterdog, and Green Day (and released on, I believe, a Green Day-owned label), you know they got the chops to satisfy. Fun without being shallow, classic without being retro, and cool without really trying. Keep yer eye on The Frustrators.(www.adelinerecords.com)
