Brainstorm – Ambiguity – Review

Brainstorm

Ambiguity (Metal Blade)
by Scott Hefflon

German power metal with chugging guitars, powerful vocals, driving beats, the requisite ballad, and practically nothing to distinguish itself from the pack. A simple (simply forgettable) band name, an album title ripe for ripping (to me, Brainstorm and Ambiguity are kinda polar opposites), and their claim to fame is that their singer quit to form another reasonably decent band (Metalium) and won an award or something from someone. Half the bands the bio lists off are either second-tier openers or completely unknown to me, and I like Gamma Ray, Stratovarious, Hammerfall, Primal Fear, and the better of the bunch who fondly recall how much Helloween ruled in the late ’80s, man.
