As Friends Rust – A Young Trophy Band In The Parlance of our Times – Review

As Friends Rust

A Young Trophy Band In The Parlance of our Times (Equal Vision)
by Tim Den

Fuckin’ A, these guys just keep getting better. If you can believe it, this six-song EP is even more diverse and confident than their last full-length (Won). As Friends Rust sound more NYHC on this release, from the H2O-isms of opener “More Than Just Music, it’s a Hairstyle” to the Sick Of It All groove of “The Most Americanest” (which also includes Life Of Agony-ish crooning), they’ve tapped into the Big Apple’s mythical vibe. Borrowing some of The Promise Ring’s back catalog for “Temporary Living,” these guys are proving that they can go anywhere they want. A multi-faceted hardcore band that effortlessly streamlines everything they tackle.
