Finally
, I sense that the industrial fucks of this new millennium are getting the point… Jeez, it only took ten years of electronica to let you guys know that you can get away from the metal guitars and disco beats and really start creating music. Then again, maybe it’s the resurgence of pop music that’s made Ohgr start writing well-crafted songs over incessantly annoying computer blips.

To be honest, he and his Skinny Puppy cohorts have been consistent in exploring new technologies & options, but on Sunny Psyop, he’s pared down the songs into better-digestible forms. Yeah, you still have the distorted vocals and overly-processed rhythms, but they come at you from new directions, breathing life into the dusty corpse that is electro industrial. I wouldn’t call it pop-industrial, more like… well, if you want to go to the land of metaphor, most of the stuff on Metropolis records is like a Tootsie Roll: Kind of nasty tasting, and lasts a really long time. Sunny Psyop is more like a Sour Patch Gummy Worm: Short and sharp.
