I have their self-titled release memorized. Drive to it all the time. Even the “only half good, the screaming part” cover of the Stones’ “Paint it Black” is something I anticipate and lean into. Produced by Killswitch’s Adam D, that fucker smokes. This one leaves me a bit cold. The singer sings more, and his clean vocals were the weakest part of the last one. Helluva scream, though. New American Metal is formulaic and interchangeable and we all know it, it’s just what interchangeable parts you gravitate to. This one is more worldly, sure, with more parts and more sounds, but the last was pure, accidentally awesome.
