More Deep Cuts (Turn)

Creative, creepy, gorgeous, delicate, light-hearted, and confusing as all hell. The phrase “alternative music” hasn’t meant anything in a long time. This is alternative music. While I dislike quoting bios, someone hired a decent writer for a change. To wit: “As toy pianos and French horns crash into strings and decay into orchestra warped and bent beyond recognition, the sensible, ultra-clear voice of Dee Kesler provides a calm eye to the storm.” Again, true alternative music, not formulaic alt-pop that just doesn’t sell enough to be called mainstream. There’s heartbreak here, and triumph of the human spirit. And not in a mainstream Hollywood blockbuster type way. Plenty of lapping thoughtfulness, silent giggles, and fond memories here.
