Thunderlip – Review

(Lucid)

Lucid is pretty reliable for noisy rock and full-on noisy metal and hardcore, but this is bar rock, and dry-sounding at that. The first few songs really threw me, like a bad bar rock band who likes Kiss and Maiden, but it dawns on you that lost in there somewhere might be a wild, swaggering, dangerous rock band. There’s some jump, some bash, some drunken reeling, but it’s all dry. Imagine if “Detroit Rock City” revved like an Escort instead of a Chevelle SS. So a strange release for Lucid, and a potentially wild band neutered by a flat mix. Get one of the later songs, like maybe “No Time For Love” on the mp3 CD. Seems mixed brighter. Heh, and nice typo in yer url, Tunderlip. lol
