When you’re sixteen and pissed off at your parents, A Wilhelm Scream must make a lot of sense. Anthemic, fist-pumping choruses? Check. Metal as fuck riffs? Check. Self-loathing lyrics? Yup. AWS do what they do and they do it well. Still, you can’t deny that this brand of fast, faux-heavy, “whoa-oh-oh” punk rock is painfully embarrassing. Men in their twenties have no business writing songs like these.
