The Music of the Melvins (Fractured Transmitter)
by Craig Regala

Really, what can I say ? I mean, look at the band listing; If you’re there, you’re Fucking THERE, ya’know ? I’ve heard Melvins records over the past few decades, seen’m, dug their stance as “we do it our way” individualists, and am heartily impressed with their ability to mind some sorta mind bend metal” by language continually out of any and all source material, be it from being weaned at the nip of Black Flag or birthing Boris. The bands below lean on the whomp! Crunch! Grrr!, eng? Crunch! side of things; and it works as a piece. “Nightgoat” by Mare, “Honey Bucket” by The Dillinger Escape Plan, “The Bit” by Mastodon, “Zodiac” by Strapping Young Lad, “Claude” by Pig Destroyer, “Oven” by High On Fire/Keelhaul, “Shevil” by Meatjack, “Joan Of Arc” by Mastodon/Strapping Young Lad/Fear Factory, “Boris” by Isis/Agoraphobic Nosebleed, “Revolve” by Absentee, “Easy As It Was” by EyeHateGod, “Anaconda” by Dog Fashion Disco, “Raise A Paw” by Disengage, “Hog Leg” by Blessing The Hogs, “Laughing With Lucifer At Satan’s Sideshow” by CKY/Gnarkill, “Copache” by Maritime Murder, “Bar X and The Rocking M” by Made Out Of Babies, “Echohead/Don’t Piece Me” by Pincer 2.
