Kiss Kiss Kill Kill (Hellcat)
by Scott Hefflon

Female-fronted psychobilly. Dark guitarwork, the singer belts it out and lashes against fashion/trendy music (uh, like rockabilly?), and it’s all catchy and musically-solid, but there’s something too self-aware for my tastes. Three albums deep, and they’re already as referential as Kevin Smith movies. Make pure art, don’t make something in reference to other things in current pop culture, dig? Listenable and enjoyable, but not something that’ll be remembered as blazing a new trail for others to follow.
