Wasteland Discotheque (Lifeforce)
by Scott Hefflon

Four records deep, reviewed/previewed ’em all, thanks. Glorious production, layered harmonies, metal as rich as Strapping Young Lad, yet more like his melodic solo stuff. The band’s from Denmark, and anyone into Dark Tranquillity who can deal with a bit more lyrical metal cheese will find metal roar and keyboard flourishes here to learn and live by. One on Century Media, one on Nuclear Blast, second for Lifeforce, fans of In Flames and Children of Bodom ought to give this band a listen and see if the melodic death (with strong clean singing and keyboard work) appeals to them. Four for four work for me, cover of Rockwell’s “Somebody’s Watching Me” (with Michael Jackson roped into the famous chorus) excluded.
