While more, um, chipper than I usually reach for, these are days when Randy Newman’s bouncy piano work and raspy, optimistic female vocals feel like the first sip of coffee in the morning or a cool breeze coming across the park. “Keeps gettin’ better” is something we crave to hear, and while the song is as cheesy and catchy as a ’70s TV theme song, seriously, couldn’t we use a bit of skipping and heel-clicking right about now?
