The Charms – Pussycat – Review

June 7, 2005

Jumpy garage/soul band blending sex appeal and solid musicianship, without either being something they have to prove. Farfisa organ and sexy squeals.

Stiffed – Burned Again – Review

June 7, 2005

Cute and fun little punk lite cover band. A handfulla the songs stick with ya, and they’re a blast to get silly to. Comparisons to Gwen Stefani are inevitable.

The Messengers – Review

June 1, 2005

No frills, mistakes and “par for the course” filler galore, but gobs of attitude, and a few melodies that’ll stick in yer head. Not cutesy female-fronted punk.

The Lurkers – 26 Years – Review

June 1, 2005

Can’t tell if this is new or a collection of classic ’77 Britpunk from a band who’s been around for ages. The drums and overall mix sound thin, like early ’80s punk, and the style’s been around forever, and this is just more of the same. Classic if you’re into such things, but mostly just for diehard fans who aren’t dead yet.

The Aquabats – Charge – Review

June 1, 2005

Never much cared for this goofy skapunk band, and catering to the “the kids like Casios” crowd just makes them even more loathesome. Proceed with caution.
