Lost Breed – Save Yourself – Review

Lost Breed

Save Yourself (Noise)
by Scott Hefflon

Discovered by The Obsessed singer/guitarist “Wino” Weinrich in New York, Lost Breed moved to L.A. to play classic power metal. Their second release on Hellhound (“The Heaviest Label on Earth”), Save Yourself, is their U.S. debut on Noise. Similar to Hellhound mates, The Obsessed (until their recent Sony signing), Lost Breed trudges heavily along like a dinosaur through mud. And yes, that is a cut on the production quality. While singer Pat Lydon’s raspy vocals have been compared to Lemmy’s signature sound, that compliment seems exaggerated, considering the weak mix. There is power here, especially in the foot-thick bass lines, but its effect is lessened by unfocused production.
