28 songs from artists of every genre, all for a good cause (funding National Hopeline Network, a youth crisis center that helps with child abuse, drug dependency, suicide, etc.). For once, bands are putting their money where their mouths are. This comp and the month-long tour that supported it brought some of the biggest names in underground music across the nation, raising donations and spreading good music. What else can you ask for?

As if the cause alone wasn’t enough to win your bucks, Plea for Peace Take Action supplies you with a huge sampling of today’s best underground bands. Best of the bunch: Cave In‘s spacey/crunchy stomp, Zero Zero‘s urban/chic/fashionable Mod-electronica, Shai Hulud‘s technical metalcore, TSOL‘s tried-and-true punk’n’roll, Seam‘s tranquil/minimalistic whispers, and Mike Park‘s acoustic ditty. Even the so-sos are top contenders in their genre: Alkaline Trio‘s Jawbreaker-isms, Swingin’ Utters‘ new “Irish pub songs” sound, Good Riddance‘s Fat Wreck-pattened SoCal pop punk, Link 80‘s ska-punk… not to mention odd balls like Atom And His Package doing his weird “geeky electronic punk.” So whatcha waitin’ fer? Help a good cause and help yourself to some of today’s best bands.
