Two records deep, sounding A LOT like Sonata Arctica, who I love on late-night drives. Heavy metal, with powerful/warbling vocals, and rich, orchestral texture.
They’re Swedish, of course, and play anthemic melodic death metal that’s true death, plus sweetly anthemic, without being, ya know, emo pussy about it.
These guys can open for Isis or Pelican any day. I like the mediocre drone over pounding hardcore fuck-all, but that’s cuz Dillinger spazz is tiresome to me.
Glorious production, layered harmonies, metal as rich as Strapping Young Lad, yet more like his melodic solo stuff. Strong, clean singing and keyboard work.
Changing styles faster than your bi-polar girlfriend changes moods, this band can thrash it up, roar like death, warble all heavy metal, and slip into a groove.
They cross-genres, which is swell, they rap, which is not, they play metal, which is good, they play punk, which is good, and they hate stuff, which is good.
