Age of Tyranny (Candlelight)
by Scott Hefflon

15 years deep, and Age of Tyranny is quite possibly their most interesting release in years. I heard harmonies, I heard elongated solos, I was impressed. Seeing as I haven’t really cared much for the band since their first two releases, Foul Taste of Freedom and The Truth Hurts, cuz everything seemed like a “distort-everything” metalcore duh/knuckledrag like the last one, the fact that they’re finally incorporating (on rare occasion, I have to add) screaming solos and vocal harmonies (and cold vocal speak like Fear Factory did a decade ago and news samples like Ministry did a decade and a half ago) to the groove/snooze-fest, well, it’s baby steps, but they count.
