I just got back from another Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors. I went to see was Dario Argento, who happens to be the greatest director in the entire universe.
The premise is simple: Some scumbags do something really nasty to some pretty nice folks, and then those nice folks get to kill the crap out of the scumbags.
Now you can buy primo copies of such classics as Halloween, Dawn of the Dead, and Martin for a few measly bucks. Some companies are even adding deleted scenes.
I had mixed feelings about Event Horizon. Overall, I would say the film is OK but very difficult to become embroiled in and ultimately tough to care about.
The blockbuster of the summer should be Contact. Viewing this classic, I felt the ghost of Carl Sagan was sitting next to me going, “Cool… this film rocks.”
A favorable pastime is gathering buddies, videos, and a case of Snapple (or favorite beverage). You can laugh like maniacs, and stop the film for discussion.
