Punk Uprisings Vol. 2 – Review

Punk Uprisings

Vol. 2 (Go-Kart)
by Scott Hefflon

39 tracks of East Coast hardcore, Oi, punk, and A.C., all lovingly arranged in alphabetical order. The double vinyl includes nine extra tracks by Less Than Jake, Converge, Rain of the Parade, Jesuit, Indecision, Cooter, Barfight, Judas Iscariot, and All Else Failed. Size does matter. Just by sheer volume, Punk Uprising Vol. 2 rises above. Many of the songs are so under-produced you have to strain to hear if the band is any good, but at other times, the song is so in your face you scramble for the CD case while checking to see what track number it is to find out who this amazing band is. Diamonds in the rough mixed amidst the roughage make Punk Uprising Vol. 2 as inconsistent as it is, and probably rather representative of what’s out there. In order, The Bouncing Souls, 97a, Against All Authority, A.C., Ann Beretta, Anti-Flag, Anti-Heros, Atom and His Package, The Boils, Boiling Man, The Bruisers, Buzzov*en, Cancerous Reagans, Catharsis, Discount, Disenchanted, Dissucks, Ensign,H2O,Hate O Four,I Farm,In/Humanity,I Hate You, In My Eyes, Kill the Man who Questions, Kill Your Idols, Latex Generation, Lifetime, Lunachicks, The Neurotiks, Nine Lives, Plan a Project, Rizzo Machine, The Shoplifters, The Skabs, Snapcase, Submachine, Time Bomb 77, and Time Flies.
