Warped Tour 2002 Compilation – Review

Warped Tour 2002 Compilation

(Side One Dummy)
by Scott Hefflon

This double CD offers up 50 songs of the best, the rest, the really fuckin’ awful in the punk world. There are a few old timers, a bunch of mid-’90s greats, and it’s practically a who’s who of all the news bands, both great and pathetic. Some bands snarl and smash things, some are the clean-cut punkposterboys, and others emote and pose and miss the high notes but get the girls gooey anyway cuz, uh, hitting the right notes is no longer a prerequisite to being a singer if yer cute. Or something.

The booklet’s credits are pretty good about detailing what album the song is from and what label has recorded output from the band. Good without being exhaustive. Consider this CD a crash-course on who’s who and what’s what in 2002. Almost every band here is a name you should’ve heard of, and here’s your chance to find out what all the fuss is about.

This double CD is available (while supplies last) with a subscription to Lollipop cuz it’s important to know who ya like and who ya think is overhyped shit. And there’s plenty of both here. Bands: NOFX, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Sum 41, Midtown, Good Charlotte, Swingin’ Utters, The Casualties, The Lawrence Arms, Manic Hispanic, Finch, Avoid One Thing, Antifreeze, Glassjaw, Tsunami Bomb, Reach The Sky, No Use For A Name, Sloppy Meat Eaters, Slick Shoes, Taking Back Sunday, From Autumn To Ashes, Unsung Zeros, Divit, Throw Rag, Too Rude, Ozma, Alkaline Trio, Madcap, Flogging Molly, The Briggs, One Man Army, Auto Pilot Off, Thursday, Kill Your Idols, Breath In, The Movielife, The Damned, The Eyeliners, Lagwagon, Murphy’s Law, Mi6, Throwdown, Against All Authority, The Used, Dag Nasty, Avenged Sevenfold, Name Taken, Death On Wednesday, Vendetta Red, Destruction Made Simple, The Ataris.
